When we leave Budva in Cetinje, from Cetinje we move in the direction of Nikšić-Podgorica - through Podgorica and Danilovgrad the path will be about 80 km. Then we turn to the village of Bogetići, here you can visit the local restaurant and gain strength before visiting the monastery complex. Also in this place you can stop at night to fully rested to feel the charm of this pacifying place. There are hotels in the settlement and apartments for rent, and pilgrims from all over the world often do this, there are many hotels here in order to walk on foot to the famous Serbian shrine in the morning. Along the narrow road already familiar to travelers around Montenegro, the ascent to Ostrog begins, we climb along the serpentine to the monastery to the mountain of the same name.

The most important monument of culture and history of Montenegro. It is the largest place for pilgrimage both in terms of attendance, and in importance for the country. Also it is the third place in popularity among pilgrims in the world, the Montenegrins themselves belong to the monastery with warmth and endless respect. The current Orthodox church, located only 13 km from Nikšić, which is close and convenient. At an altitude of 900m above sea level, its two parts are located - upper and lower.

The landscape surrounding the monastery is impressive, all the charm of mountain nature in clear weather will be visible from Upper Ostrog, for many kilometers the Bjelopavlichi valley and the Zeta river will appear before our eyes. A snow-white monastery, built on the site of an ancient cave in which the monks lived, is visible from afar.

In Lower Ostrog, the relics of the 12-year-old holy martyr Stanko are stored, as well as the 19th-century Holy Trinity Church. At a distance of 5 km stands the second part of the monastery - the white Upper Ostrog, which stands out against the backdrop of the mountain.

Upper Ostrog is strikingly different in appearance - it is he who is located in the rock and is the most famous in the monastery complex. Consists of two small churches, in one of which pilgrims will find the miraculous relics of Vasily of Ostrog - one of the largest shrines of the Serbian Orthodox Church. You can climb here on foot in half an hour, leaving your car in the free parking.
